Luminous Environment Research Grants (LERG)
Application Guidelines
All applicants must have prior
approval of their application by a faculty member (teacher) who will
monitor the project. The proposal should provide a concise statement of
the project proposed, followed by a description of the project stating
the objective(s) of the project, the exact methods of implementation,
the timetable for the project, information on any other sources of
project funding, and the specifics of the end product. A description
and cost of all required items must accompany the proposal. The Section
will accept applications for student projects at any time.
The project must have the required space and equipment allocated by the participating Department or unit.
If a project involves the use of
humans, then the appropriate ethics review must take place. Students in
post-secondary institutions with an ethical review process must
complete this process. If the student's institution does not have an
ethical review process, then the project must be submitted to the IESNA
Grants and Awards Committee which will arrange for such a review. In
the case of animal research, protocols derived from the Canadian
Council on Animal Care (CCAC) must be adhered to.
Upon completion of the project, a written report must be submitted.
If possible, a brief presentation
of the project will be given at one of the monthly meetings of the
Winnipeg Section of the IESNA.
In any given year, the Awards
Subcommittee of the Winnipeg Section of the Illuminating Engineering
Society of North America (IESNA) may decide that all, some, all or none
of the proposals will be funded. Already completed projects will not be
funded.
Note: although the Winnipeg IESNA
will consider and comment on preliminary suggestions from students, the
submitted application must be for a project (a) that has been approved
by a teacher/advisor, and (b) is ready to be implemented.
The Section will accept proposals for student projects at any time.
